This department is an extension of the Juvenile Court. As such, it shares the purposes of the Juvenile Court, which are: Who may be supervised by the WCJPD? According to the Texas Family Code, a juvenile is a person 10 years of age or older, and younger than 17 years of age. A person cannot be arrested before the age of 10. If a person commits a crime before their 17th birthday, a referral to WCJPD may result. A juvenile may be ordered by the court to be supervised by the WCJPD until midnight of their 18th birthday.
