Who may be supervised by the WCJPD?

According to the Texas Family Code, a juvenile is a person 10 years of age or older, and younger than 17 years of age.  A person cannot be arrested before the age of 10.  If a person commits a crime before their 17th birthday, a referral to WCJPD may result.  A juvenile may be ordered by the court to be supervised by the WCJPD until midnight of their 18th birthday.

Supervision by the WCJPD

Supervision by the WCJPD commonly includes a curfew, community service, and participation in counseling for the juvenile and/or the family, as well as parenting classes for the responsible person(s).  Often there are financial obligations of the responsible person(s) for the juvenile.  The WCJPD keeps all juvenile criminal records confidential, as required by law.
